Austin Cindric: Wins Fontana Pole Position
Cindric won the pole for the WISE Power 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Auto Club Speedway Saturday afternoon. He turned a fast lap of 174.647 mph.
Analysis:
The Daytona 500 winner rolled into California this weekend and kept his hot streak going. Cindric knocked Erik Jones from atop the scoring pylon in the final round of knockout qualifying and survived a late flyer by Chase Elliott to capture the pole for the WISE Power 400. It's Cindric's first-career pole position in just his ninth Cup Series start. The young driver will look to crack the Top 5 Sunday at Auto Club Speedway.
