Joey Logano: Spoiler Penalty at Talladega
NASCAR officials disqualified cars driven by apparent top-five finishers Ryan Preece and Logano from Sunday's Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway after finding technical violations in both cars' rear spoilers in post-race inspection.
Analysis:
Logano had originally scored a fifth-place finish in the Jack Link's 500 but his No. 22 Ford failed post-race inspection afterward. One of the bolts that holds the spoiler secure to the rear deck of the car was found to be loose. This is a violation of Section 14.1.P under General Vehicle Assembly. Loose fasteners are a violation of this rule. Logano loses his fifth-place finish and is instead credited with 39th-place at Talladega.
