Michael Jordan sponsors Denny Hamlin for Martinsville’s Truck race
You don’t usually associate the NBA with NASCAR, but Denny Hamlin isn’t the norm. Since 2011, Hamlin has been sponsored by the Jordan Brand, equipping both Jumpman firesuits and racing gloves. This weekend in Martinsville, the sponsorship has become bigger. The Jordan Brand will be sponsoring Denny Hamlin’s ride in Saturday night’s Truck race.
MJ is no stranger to racing. The Jordan Brand supports Michael Jordan Motorsports, a motorcycle racing team founded by Jordan. The team competes in the AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike Championship series.
"To have the Jumpman on the truck at Martinsville is the perfect fit," says Denny Hamlin, who holds season tickets to Michael Jordan's Charlotte Bobcats NBA franchise. "Michael has expressed interest in taking the next step with their Jordan Brand sponsorship, so what better opportunity than going after three in a row at one of my favorite tracks."
Denny Hamlin is the two-time defending winner of Martinsville’s Truck race.
