Roger Penske: 'No interest' in signing Carl Edwards
With the rumors of Carl Edwards departing from Roush Fenway Racing getting more solid as the days pass, the focus is now on which team he’ll end up on. In terms of the high-profile teams, Hendrick Motorsports has the maximum 4-car team, as does Stewart-Haas Racing, but Joe Gibbs Racing has a spot open, as does Team Penske (2 spots, actually).
But Team Penske owner Roger Penske says he has zero interest in signing Carl Edwards.
Penske wasn’t at the Cup race in Pocono on the weekend, as he was supporting his IndyCar team at Texas Motor Speedway.
“There’s no interest,” Penske told website Catchfence.com. “We don’t have the sponsorship to do a third full-time team and he’s under contract with Roush Fenway Racing. It doesn’t make sense.”
Both Team Penske and Roush Fenway Racing run Ford cars.
