According to a report from SportsBusiness Journal, home supply chain Home Depot be leaving NASCAR, and the Joe Gibbs Racing partnership at the end of this season.
The move doesn’t come as shocking news; over the years, they went from full-time sponsorship to now just covering the bumper of JGR’s No. 20 car.
The Dollar General franchise now sponsors Kenseth in the No. 20 for 27 out of the 38 NASCAR races on the calendar.
Joe Gibbs Racing has declined to comment on the report.
On Sunday, JGR’s J.D. Gibbs said “it’s possible,” when asked if they might upgrade to a 4-car team next season. This Home Depot news may be a new thorn in the side for the team’s quest of finding sponsorship to fund running four cars.
