No. 77 team to miss Kentucky race to 'retool'
Dave Blaney, team owner Randy Humphrey’s and the No. 77 team will miss this weekend’s Cup race in Kentucky to focus on personnel changes within the company.
"We're retooling things," Humphrey told NASCAR.com via telephone call. "We're just trying to find the right people. We have not shut down."
Blaney has been wheeling the No. 77 car for Randy Humphrey Racing, successfully qualifying for 4 races this year, finishing 41st at Texas, 43rd in Darlington, 33rd in Dover and 43rd at Pocono.
Humphrey told NASCAR.com that the hiatus isn't due to funding - the competition level of his #77 car simply wasn't what he had hoped.
Humphrey hopes to return to the track on July 27th at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400.
"You will not see us at Daytona (next weekend), but I do suspect you will be seeing us at Indy forward, hopefully," he told the website. "That's our plan. We have some meetings that are going on, and we're just interviewing some people. We had to retool some people and that kind of thing to get ourselves in order here."
