BK Racing driver Alex Bowman took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to announce that he’ll be driving the No. 5 car for JR Motorsports in October 10th’s Nationwide Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. and JR Motorsports' rookie driver Chase Elliott were quick to congratulate him on the opportunity.
This is Bowman’s first time racing for JR Motorsports. His best result in the Nationwide Series was a 3rd place finish in last year’s DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway.
The 21-year-old Bowman currently competes full-time in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series, currently ranked 35th in points.
