Before the start of Saturday night’s race, NASCAR sent Joe Gibbs Racing driver Matt Kenseth to the rear of the field for “unapproved adjustments."
It was later discovered that the unapproved adjustment that Kenseth got penalized for was changing the position of a decal on the bumper of his No. 20 Toyota Camry.
NASCAR stated that the No. 20 team "was working on right rear quarter panel prior to the start of the race," and that's considered an unapproved adjustment.
Kenseth didn’t appear to have any comment on the issue, but his crew chief Jason Ratcliff didn’t sound too happy about it.
“They are out of control,” Ratcliff said on the radio. “Absolutely out of control.”
Kenseth qualified for the race in 22nd.
