Keselowski on Gordon contact: ‘If there’s a gap, I’m gonna take it’
For the second time in four races, Brad Keselowski was involved in a post-race altercation. On Sunday, it was with Jeff Gordon after the two drivers made contact during the final stages of the race, sending Gordon into the wall, virtually ending his Chase hopes (barring a win).
Gordon was not happy, calling Keselowski a “dipshit” on live television following a post-race altercation involving both drivers and their teams.
Amidst all of the fighting, a somber and reflective Brad Keselowski entered the media center to give his thoughts about the way he’s been driving during the Chase, which some consider to be overaggressive.
“I’m here to win races for (team owner) Roger Penske and my team,” Keselowski said while wiping dried blood from the fight off his face. “If there’s a gap, I’m gonna take it.”
When asked about his driving style, Keselowski believes any good racer would’ve made that move on Gordon.
“I’m not Dale Earnhardt, or (F1 driver) Ayrton Senna. But they would sit here and tell you they’d go for that same gap.”
Keselowski didn’t sound too concerned with race fans booing or disliking him, saying it’s just fuel for him to get better. He did mention that some people need to chill on the hate.
“I’ve come to the conclusion that there are a lot worse things in the world than me,” he said with a smile. “If people are here to see fights though, they’re not true race fans.”
