At only 24 years old, Joey Logano has reached the pinnacle of stock car racing.

Logano crossed the finish line first at Daytona International Speedway to win the Daytona 500 on Sunday, in a race that finished under caution.

For Logano, it's his first win at the Great American Race. At 24 years, 274 days old he's the second-youngest winner of all time, behind only Trevor Bayne, who won in 2011 the day after his 20th birthday.

The race looked like it would end under a green-white-checkered flag before a wreck on the final lap led to the race ending under caution, giving Logano the victory.

For Logano, sitting in his car under the red flag was an incredibly tense time.

"We knew what we had to do," Logano told FOX Sports. "We had a really fast car. Just had to make the right moves and not get snookered on the start and do something to make a mistake."

Logano was enjoying his moment on victory lane, while trying to take it all in.

"This doesn't happen very often," Logano said. "You get one shot at this. There's such a build up the whole weekend during the Daytona 500. All the qualifying races, and all the drama you go through and then to be here at the end and have your car sitting on the museum, and whatever else comes along with winning this race. Wow."

The day wasn't as memorable for Jeff Gordon, who led 87 laps in his final Daytona 500, but was involved in the wreck on the final lap and did not get a chance to win. He finished 33rd.

Tony Stewart and Brad Keselowski each fell out of the race early. Stewart was involved in a wreck on Lap 41 and finished 42nd. Keselowski joined him in the garage after his car went up in smoke on Lap 161.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s third-place finish is his third top-three finish in the race. Only Richard Petty (11) and Cale Yarobrough (9) have more. Dale Earnhardt Sr. had seven.

Here's the official top 10 finishing order:
