NASCAR announced on Wednesday that Sprint Cup Series driver Trevor Bayne will receive penalties for leaving his car without a safety official present during Sunday's race at Dover International Speedway.

Bayne was fined $20,000 and placed on NASCAR probation through Dec. 31.

After a three-car crash that left Bayne's No. 6 Ford with severe front-end damage, Bayne got out and walked down the track to wait for an ambulance for the mandatory ride to the care center.

NASCAR implemented the rule after Sprint Cup driver Tony Stewart struck and killed 20-year-old Kevin Ward Jr. at a sprint car race last summer. Ward Jr. exited his car and was walking on the track when Stewart hit him.

Bayne's infractions come just two days after a similar incident with Truck Series driver Jennifer Jo Cobb, who left her truck after a wreck to yell at Tyler Reddick.

NASCAR also announced Cobb has been fined $5,000 and placed on NASCAR probation through Dec. 31 for her actions.
