Saturday was a special day for Hailie Deegan.
Before racing in the Carneros 200 at California's Sonoma Raceway, the 16-year-old graduated from high school and received her diploma at the track. She went on to finish seventh in the race.
Deegan is currently competing as a rookie - and the lone female driver - in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West circuit.
"Everything, all the buzz is on me right now," Deegan told Peter Fornier of Bay Area newspaper The Press Democrat. "It's just a really cool experience getting to go to all these tracks, being a rookie, never going on these tracks and kind of comparing myself to the veteran guys, how they're doing on these tracks and it's cool to learn from all the people who have experience around you."
