Lakers selling limited-edition Kobe retirement hat for $38K
In case it wasn't made abundantly clear given how the season has unfolded, the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to make the most of Kobe Bryant's final season.
The team is going as far as selling snakeskin jerseys that run $424, and commemorative hats that go for $38,024, according to ESPN's Darren Rovell.
The New Era product contains 3.5 ounces of 18-karat gold that forms Bryant's No. 24 pressed against lambskin and snakeskin. Only eight such hats have been made.
For those who are merely rich, and not obscenely rich, the Lakers are also offering a cost-effective option. There are eight hats for sale at $24,008 apiece that feature yellow diamonds and gold snakeskin.
In case you're really pressed for cash, the Lakers are also selling hats adorned with Swarovski crystals to commemorate Bryant's 81-point game. Those go for $248.24.
"We think there's something for everyone," said vice president of AEG Merchandise Sean Ryan.
