Maryland's Robert Carter heading to NBA

Maryland forward Robert Carter has reportedly played his final game for the Terrapins.

Carter is declaring for the 2016 NBA Draft, the school announced Thursday. He'll hire an agent, which means he won't be able to change his mind and return to school before the May 25 deadline.

"I want to thank the University of Maryland community and all of the fans for their support during my two years at Maryland," Carter said. "I also want to thank Coach (Mark) Turgeon, my teammates, and the entire Maryland basketball program for everything they have done for me. The University of Maryland will always be a special place to both me and my family. I will forever be a Terp."

The junior isn't the only the Terrapin who figures to garner NBA attention. Diamond Stone and Melo Trimble are expected to be drafted if they officially declare.

Carter averaged 12.3 points and nearly seven rebounds last season.
