Mavericks set franchise-low for points in playoff game

Outmatched and outclassed, the Dallas Mavericks could muster little more than a whimper in their playoff opener.

Rick Carlisle's team set a franchise low in both points scored (70) and field-goal percentage (29.8) as part of a landslide 38-point loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Chesapeake Arena on Saturday.

Some scant baskets in garbage time saved the Mavericks from also setting the record for worst loss in team history, originally set in 1984 when they lost by 43 points to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Not a single Maverick managed to hit half their shots. Dirk Nowitzki led the way with 18 points on a relatively efficient 7-of-15 shooting. Beyond that, the rest of his fellow starters combined for 12 points on 5-of-25 shooting, and no one else managed more than eight points.

To make matters worse, starting point guard J.J. Barea exited the game at halftime with a groin strain.
