The Washington Wizards' quest for a new head coach may soon be over.
The Wizards are in "pole position" to land Scott Brooks, ESPN's Marc Stein reports. The Houston Rockets are reportedly also interested in the 50-year-old, but are hampered by their first-round matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
The Wizards relieved Randy Wittman of his head coaching duties last week. They're hoping to bounce back after going just 41-41 in 2015-16.
Brooks spent seven season as the head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder, going 338-207 during his tenure. He was fired last season after failing to lead a talented Thunder team to the postseason.
