Bosh signals desire to return; Heat say he's out indefinitely
The unusual saga of Chris Bosh's medical situation took another turn Tuesday night when the Miami Heat forward's wife posted a series of tweets with the hashtag "BringBoshBack." One of them included video of Bosh taking shots on the American Airlines Arena floor.
The tweets and retweets came from the verified account of Adrienne Bosh, and is more tangible evidence of a widely-suspected belief that Bosh wants to return to action, but is being held back from doing so by the Heat's medical staff.
Going into Wednesday night's Game 5, Miami is tied 2-2 in their first-round playoff series against the Charlotte Hornets, dropping two in a row after opening with a 2-0 lead.
Bosh has not played a game since Feb. 9, the result of blood clots, a condition known to be life-threatening. The 13-year NBA veteran's season ended last year because of a similar affliction, one that landed him in hospital in critical condition. The Heat organization has been extremely quiet about the situation, while Bosh has continued to hint he has no plans to retire and even hopes to play again this season.
Less than two weeks ago, however, teammate Dwyane Wade said that Bosh didn't "have the ability" to return for the playoffs.
On Wednesday, the Heat told ESPN regarding Bosh's status that "there is no update. He is out still indefinitely."
Bosh was placed on blood-thinning medication in the wake of his 2015 medical episode, something that rendered him unable to play contact basketball. The Heat's leading scorer this season has since appeared in advertising for the anti-clotting medication Xarelto, alongside golf legend Arnold Palmer and actor Kevin Nealon.
