Cavaliers break record for most 3s in win over Hawks
The Cleveland Cavaliers broke the NBA record for 3-pointers made in a playoff game by hitting 25 against the Atlanta Hawks in a 123-98 win in Game 2.
First, the Cavaliers took down the playoff record set by the Golden State Warriors two weeks prior. Kyrie Irving nailed back-to-back triples midway through the third quarter to push the Cavaliers' total one ahead of the previous mark of 21.
The Cavaliers came out of the gates hot, canning eight threes in the first quarter before pushing their total to 18 by halftime. Fueled by a flurry of heat-check bombs by J.R. Smith, the Cavaliers seemingly couldn't miss.
Granted, the Hawks weren't exactly taking away the line. More than half of the Cavaliers' field goals came from beyond the arc through three quarters, during which time the game was effectively decided.
Cleveland led 106-70 heading into the fourth as the benches emptied. The onslaught got so bad that the Hawks volunteered to subject themselves to the "Crying Jordan" treatment.

Cleveland would ultimately finish with 25 treys on 45 attempts, the most threes made in any game - either in playoffs or regular season. The Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic shared the previous mark that was set at 23.
