Report: Knicks have reached out to Vogel about head coaching job
New York Knicks general manager Steve Mills has reached out to ex-Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel to gauge his interest in joining the team as head coach, ESPN's Ian Begley reports.
This comes just a day after reports surfaced that team president Phil Jackson was momentarily suspending the Knicks' coaching search to spend time at his Montana home to "collect his thoughts." Jackson and Vogel have a previous working relationship, with the latter working as an advance scout during Jackson's tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Vogel has quickly gained interest around the league following his dismissal on Thursday, with the Houston Rockets linked to the 42-year-old bench boss earlier in the week.
Jackson has reportedly already met with David Blatt and newly named Lakers head coach Luke Walton last month with regards to the Knicks' coaching vacancy.
