Magic GM says team will reach out to Vogel

The Orlando Magic intend to reach out to Frank Vogel with regards to the team's head coaching vacancy, general manager Rob Hennigan told the Orlando Sentinel's Josh Robbins.
The Magic are in the market for a new bench boss after Scott Skiles' sudden resignation Wednesday. Hennigan did not say that Vogel was his preferred replacement, but went on to list requirements for the job that fit the coach's resume.
"Sort of the fulcrum of what we're looking for is someone who puts an emphasis on the defensive end of the floor," Hennigan told the Sentinel. "Someone who puts an emphasis on player development and also someone who puts an emphasis on building lasting connections with the players on our roster."
Vogel's Indiana Pacers ranked in the NBA's top three in defensive rating in three of his five-plus seasons as coach.
Jeff Hornacek, Patrick Ewing, Adrian Griffin, and one-time Magic interim coach James Borrego are also rumored to be on Orlando's radar. Vogel is also expected to be heavily considered for openings with the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets.
The Magic represent an attractive fit for the right coach, featuring young talent like Nikola Vucevic, Victor Oladipo, Elfrid Payton, and Evan Fournier.
