LeBron: 'We're a team that's destined for greatness'
The Atlanta Hawks summoned their best punch on Friday.
Mike Budenholzer's team weathered yet another first-half 3-point barrage and launched an inspired 23-7 run to snatch the lead in the fourth quarter, but that hardly mattered.
The Cleveland Cavaliers didn't even flinch. Behind a blistering shooting performance by Channing Frye, the Cavaliers made the fourth-quarter comeback to steamroll the Hawks 121-108 in Game 3 of their second-round series.
After the game, an ebullient LeBron James was thrilled about the way his team has performed in the postseason.
"We're a team that's destined for greatness and I really believe that," James said.
With their win on Friday, the Cavaliers became just the 11th team to start the playoffs 7-0. Moreover, the combination of Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, and James also improved to 11-0 when they all take to the court in the playoffs. Cleveland also became the first team ever to score 20 or more threes in consecutive games. Their list of accomplishments goes on and on.
But with all due respect to the Eastern Conference, the real test for the Cavaliers will come from whichever team arises from the West. James should easily romp through the East for his sixth straight Finals appearance, but that's not the measure of success.
It's championship or bust, so while the Cavaliers are rolling, the real test of their greatness lays ahead.
