Mutombo creates controversy hours before lottery

Retired NBA player and former Philadelphia 76ers center Dikembe Mutombo created quite the stir prior to Tuesday's draft lottery.

Mutombo tweeted his congratulations to the Sixers for landing the No. 1 pick, leading many to wonder whether he knew the results of the lottery before anyone else.

Mutombo later deleted the tweet, but it is unlikely he actually knows who won, as backroom protocol forces participants to surrender their phones, computers, and recorders prior to entering.

Mutombo later apologized for the mishap, but remains optimistic about the Sixers' chances.
