Devin Booker spends day with Suns fan with Down syndrome
Before attending the NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday, Devin Booker spent the day wandering around New York City with 16-year-old Phoenix Suns superfan Jenna Warren.
Booker first met Warren, who has Down syndrome, during a pregame warmup routine last year, and the two formed a close friendship, according to David Gardner of Sports Illustrated. When Booker was chosen to represent the Suns at the draft lottery, he knew he wanted to bring Warren along.
The two made the most of their day together, playing basketball, grabbing a bite to eat, and shopping for jerseys.
"I do notice, you know, they have like a bond, right from the beginning," Warren's mother, Gracie Colvin, said. "Sometimes you can kind of tell, and as a protective mom, I will kind of (say) like, 'stay with me,' and hold her back, but I never have with Devin. I've always felt like, 'go ahead.' I just felt like he really was truly drawn to her, so I never felt like there was any ulterior motives. It's always been genuine."
