Fat Joe apologizes for outing Anthony Mason as subject of Biggie song
Fat Joe helped solve one of hip-hop's biggest mysteries last week, revealing that Anthony Mason was the New York Knicks player The Notorious B.I.G. was referencing in his 1997 track "I Got a Story to Tell."
Mason's former teammate, Charles Oakley, called the move "disrespectful," but everything appears to be good between the two men now.
While at a party for Floyd Mayweather's daughter over the weekend, Fat Joe issued an apology to Oakley.
"I love Charles Oakley. I worship him," Fat Joe said. "I worship Anthony Mason. Anyone who took it as disrespect, I'm sorry."
Oakley has since responded, telling TMZ Sports that he accepts the apology.
"What's important here is that no man should ever speak on a man who is deceased and can't speak for themselves," Oakley said. "R.I.P. Mason and Biggie."
