Report: Raptors, Casey agree to 3-year extension

Dwane Casey is staying in the 6ix.
The Toronto Raptors have reached an agreement with their head coach on a three-year extension worth $18 million, Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski reports, citing a source.
Toronto improved its win percentage in every season under Casey's guidance. He inherited a 23-win team in 2011 and eventually built a 56-win roster that reached the Eastern Conference finals this season.
Casey also oversaw the development of DeMar DeRozan, Kyle Lowry, and Jonas Valanciunas, who have grown into the pillars of the most successful era in Raptors history.
For his efforts, Casey finished fifth in Coach of the Year voting this season. His reported extension represents a significant raise from his previous contract, which saw him earn $3.7 million per year.
However, the 59-year-old disciplinarian might have been on the hot seat had the Raptors suffered a third straight meltdown in the first round of the playoffs.
Casey is the fourth-longest tenured coach in the league behind Gregg Popovich, Rick Carlisle, and Erik Spoelstra.
