Wizards' Morris detained at airport for suspected marijuana possession
Washington Wizards forward Markieff Morris was detained Thursday at Philadelphia International Airport, according to CSN Philly's John Gonzalez citing local law enforcement officials.
The 26-year-old had his bag checked ahead of an international trip when a "suspicious item" was discovered in his suitcase, according to law enforcement.
A second search revealed what is being referred to as "suspected marijuana."
Morris was taken to the Tinicum Township Police precinct for questioning, and was eventually released on his own recognizance. Terminal A isn't overseen by the Philadelphia Police Department, which is why security notified the Tinicum Police instead.
A spokesman said that the investigation is still ongoing.
Morris was traded by the Phoenix Suns to the nation's capital in February, averaging 12.4 points and 5.9 rebounds in 27 appearances in his new home.
