LeBron banner in Cleveland to be replaced for Republican convention
For nine of the last 13 years, a giant banner of LeBron James has adorned the Sherwin Williams building across the street from Quicken Loans Arena.
The only period in which the LeBron mural didn't overlook downtown Cleveland was during the four seasons that King James plied his trade for the Miami Heat. Now, on the heels of James' Cavaliers ending the city's 52-year championship drought, the banner will once again come down, only this time it has nothing to do with basketball.
When the Republican National Convention comes to town July 18-21, the building will instead sport a massive red, white, and blue banner that reads "This land is our land."
The image of James, which now includes the word "Champions" in glowing font above LeBron's head, will come down on July 5, but will be back before the Cavs open the 2016-17 season in the fall.
