The Toronto Raptors selected Utah center Jakob Poeltl with the ninth pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
Long believed to be the most promising pure center in the class, Poeltl brings a combination of size, mobility, and touch that could make him a two-way weapon at the NBA level. He shot 64 percent from the field last season, and his solid free-throw shooting (69.4 percent) is a nice bonus.
His pro prospects, however, rest on his ability to refine his extremely raw skill set. The 20-year-old has a limited offensive game, unable to do much with the ball when he isn't catching it close to the basket. His lack of length and explosiveness also means he doesn't profile as a rim protector, limiting his defensive upside.
