The days of Derrick Rose playing in his hometown of Chicago are over, and with a new team in the New York Knicks comes new surroundings, new teammates, and even a new number.
The former NBA MVP will wear No. 25 in The Big Apple after donning No. 1 the past eight seasons with the Bulls.

The new digits have a profound significance to the 27-year-old point guard, as No. 25 was worn by slain Chicago high school basketball star Ben "Benji" Wilson, who was shot twice during a confrontation with a student from another school back in 1984.
Rose donned the number during his days competing at Simeon Career Academy, the school Wilson attended.
The change is due to center Kevin Seraphin already wearing No. 1 for the Knicks.
