Report: Jefferson won't retire, wants to play another 2-3 years
Richard Jefferson's retirement announcement appears to have been premature.
The 15-year veteran is reportedly looking to play two or three more seasons, sources tell Chris Mannix of The Vertical.
Jefferson told reporters immediately after winning the title with the Cleveland Cavaliers that he was retiring but has since gone on to say his teammates have been pressuring him to reconsider.
"My teammates, [LeBron James] and those guys are trying to talk to me out of it," Jefferson said last week. "They're saying I'm crazy if I retire. So we'll see. It's still up for debate."
The 36-year-old unrestricted free agent averaged 5.5 points and 1.7 rebounds in 17.9 minutes during 74 games with Cleveland this season. He averaged 5.4 points and 3.5 rebounds in 21 playoff games.
