Report: Jerry West told Durant he would have it easier in Golden State

The Golden State Warriors included one of the all-time greats in their recruiting of Kevin Durant.

After Golden State met with Durant in the Hamptons Friday, Warriors executive Jerry West spoke with the 27-year-old via telephone on Saturday, ESPN's Chris Broussard reports, citing league sources.

West reportedly did not tell Durant which team he should choose in free agency, but did suggest that playing for Golden State would make things easier on the 6-foot-9 forward. With the three-headed monster of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green on the floor with him, West opined that Durant would need fewer shots to get the same number of points.

The former Los Angeles Lakers guard reportedly also stated that Durant's all-around game hasn't gotten the credit it's deserved in Oklahoma City, but likely would if he were teamed up with other great players.

It remains to be seen whether West's phone call will ultimately make a difference in Durant's decision, but it appears the Warriors are certainly in the mix for the Maryland native.
