Report: Nets, Scola agree to 1-year deal
The Brooklyn Nets have reached an agreement on a one-year contract with free-agent power forward Luis Scola, league sources told The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Scola spent this past season with the Toronto Raptors, averaging 8.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 0.9 assists, shooting 45 percent from the floor and 40.4 percent from deep. While Scola started in 76 games for Toronto, the Raptors were a superior team with the 6-foot-9 Argentinean on the bench, performing 12 points per 100 possessions better.
The 36-year-old will help add depth to the Nets frontcourt, which has already lost Thaddeus Young and Willie Reed this offseason. Given how thin the unit is, Scola could presumably enter next season as the Nets' starter.
Scola joins Jeremy Lin and Greivis Vasquez as Brooklyn's newest offseason additions.
