Magic trade Marble to Clippers for Wilcox
The Orlando Magic are finalizing a trade that will send Devyn Marble and a 2020 second-round pick to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for C.J. Wilcox and cash considerations, a source told The Orlando Sentinel's Josh Robbins.
Orlando reportedly had plans to waive Marble on Thursday, but when the opportunity to acquire a player like Wilcox as compensation arose, the team changed course.
If the Clippers were to release him by the end of the day Friday, they wouldn't be obligated to pay him.
Marble, 23, was the 56th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets, who then dealt him to Orlando on draft night. He averaged just 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in 44 appearances over the past two seasons.
Wilcox entered the league at the same time, going 28 picks earlier than Marble at No. 28 out of Washington University. He came off the bench for all 23 of his games during the 2015-16 campaign, averaging three points on 39.4 percent shooting in just 7.3 minutes per game.
