Report: Antetokounmpo brothers begin Greek military service
It appears that Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo are in fact currently serving mandatory military service in their native Greece. The Milwaukee Bucks forward and his onetime New York Knicks swingman sibling reported to a training center near Athens on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.
Greek news outlet Proto Thema ran video and photographs Wednesday showing the pair in military uniform and at what appeared to be a barracks.
Greek citizens who are permanent overseas residents are required to fulfill mandatory military service of up to three months. There has been absolutely no indication either would need to serve that long, as NBA training camps begin in October.
The Bucks have not addressed the report. Thanasis last played in the D-League for the Westchester Knicks.
