Report: Brandon Bass, Clippers agree to 1-year, $1.5M deal
It appears Brandon Bass will be moving to the team down the hall.
The unrestricted free-agent power forward agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, sources told The Vertical's Shams Charania.
The deal is for the veteran's minimum of $1.5 million, according to the Los Angeles Times' Brad Turner - which, if correct, represents a pay cut of about 50 percent for Bass. He opted out of the second year of his deal with the Staples Center co-tenant Lakers for $3.1 million to test the free-agent waters.
The San Antonio Spurs were also in pursuit of Bass, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski. However, he apparently chose the Clippers in part because of Doc Rivers, who previously coached him with the Boston Celtics.
In 66 games off the bench in 2015-16, the 31-year-old averaged 7.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
