LeBron won't let 11-year-old son own a cell phone

Being the son of three-time NBA champion LeBron James clearly has its benefits, but it also has its disadvantages.

LeBron James Jr., the oldest of three children, isn't allowed to own a cell phone.

"He’s lucky. He gets to grow up slower than I did," James said in an exclusive interview with Sports Illustrated's Lee Jenkins.

Sure, not possessing a cellular device isn't exactly the worst thing in the world, but considering how a majority of children seemingly own a phone, it's surprising to hear that James Jr. can't have one.

Then again, considering how schools are already beginning to recruit him to play basketball for their respective collegiate programs, perhaps The King would prefer if scouts didn't have a means to communicate with his boy that he wouldn't be aware of.
