Report: OKC will host Timberwolves on Christmas Day
The Oklahoma City Thunder will play host to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Christmas Day, according to multiple reports.
The NBA is slated to officially release its 2016-17 regular-season schedule at 5:45 p.m. ET.
This would mark the seventh straight season in which the Thunder have played on Christmas Day. The NBA reserves its marquee day for its biggest stars, and having Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant in past seasons was always sure to draw eyeballs.
Durant has since fled to Golden State (who will visit Cleveland on Christmas) but there should still be plenty of interest in watching Westbrook lead the Thunder.
As for the Timberwolves, this would be the first time they've played on Christmas Day in the 27-year history of the franchise. Not even during Kevin Garnett's heyday did Minnesota get to shine on the big stage.
Their inclusion speaks to the rebuilding effort underway in Minnesota. The Timberwolves have the last two Rookie of the Year winners in Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns and they're poised, in many ways, to become the next rendition of the Thunder.
