Blazers' Ezeli sidelined 6 weeks after undergoing knee injection

Portland Trail Blazers center Festus Ezeli continues to battle injury woes.

Ezeli will miss six weeks after receiving a bone marrow aspirate concentrate injection in his left knee, the team announced Tuesday.

Having never played a full season in his career, Ezeli only commanded a modest two-year deal on account of his questionable health. During a summer headlined by reckless spending, Ezeli signed a two-year deal that was only guaranteed for $7.4 million.

When healthy, Ezeli can be the rim protector that the Blazers so sorely lack. The Nigerian-born center has swatted 2.5 blocks per 36 minutes in his career, and he's a solid option in the pick-and-roll.

However, over the last three seasons, Ezeli has twice made only 46 appearances, while missing the entirety of the 2013-14 season on account of an injured right knee. The year thereafter, Ezeli had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee which kept him out for six weeks.
