76ers sign Elton Brand to 1-year deal

The Philadelphia 76ers have maintained they wanted to have veterans on their roster going into 2016-17, and they will keep one of the last NBA players born in the 1970s on board for another year.

The 76ers have agreed to terms with veteran power forward Elton Brand on a one-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.

The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski was first to report the signing.

Brand, 37, joined the Sixers last January after Jerry Colangelo took the reins of the team as chairman. The move was designed to provide what appeared to be a wayward young team with some veteran locker room leadership.

The two-time NBA All-Star appeared in 17 games for Philadelphia, averaging 4.1 points and 3.7 rebounds.
