Reggie Jackson: Pistons will be 'scary' this season

For everyone keeping track at home, the two teams to be afraid of in the Eastern Conference are the New York Knicks and the Detroit Pistons.

Reggie Jackson is a huge fan of Detroit's offseason additions, and he told Keith Langlois of Pistons.com that his squad will surprise teams this season.

"I think people are looking for huge names and that’s not necessarily what Detroit’s ever done," Jackson said. "We do it collectively. We don’t need anyone to believe in us. We’ll still find a way. But I think we shored up our second unit and added some more versatility and some more depth. I think we’ll be scary this year."

"But you know what? I don’t want to talk about it too much. We’ll let the season speak for itself," Jackson added.

Depth will go a long way for the Pistons since they had one of the least productive bench units in the league last season. Adding the likes of Jon Leuer, Boban Marjanovic, and Ish Smith - although not well-known names - should bring stability to a second unit that struggled to maintain leads.

But the Pistons only managed the eighth seed last season, and it's not like they've added any star players, so any significant improvement would have to come from within.

That starts with Jackson, and his running mate Andre Drummond. They've developed into one of the deadliest pick-and-roll combinations in the NBA, but they'll need to continue improving if the Pistons are to take the next step.

As the two pillars of the team, Detroit will go as far as Jackson and Drummond will take them.
