Haslem wants to end career with Wade in Miami

If Udonis Haslem has his way, he and Dwyane Wade will retire together while wearing the Miami Heat uniform.

However, that's looking unlikely after Wade's tumultuous summer. A long and ugly contractual dispute led him to Chicago, but Haslem is intent on a reunion.

"I'm going to damn sure try (to bring Wade back)," Haslem told Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald. "I mean, I don't know. I guess I've got to wait until next summer to see how that goes. But, I never give up without a fight."

Wade, who was in Miami for a community outreach event Saturday, reiterated his appreciation for Haslem, and said he needs to live up to his promise.

"Like we always say, 'Blood couldn't make us any closer.' I appreciate this guy for all the fines he took for sticking up for me," Wade said.

"If I scored 20,000 points, I'll give him 10,000 for the screens he set for me to get there. I did the rest. But he did the beginning part of it. This is just mutual respect. This is a brother. I made a promise to him that we were going to finish our career together. As of now, I didn't hold up my end of the bargain. So I've got to make it up to him eventually.

"But this is my brother man. And I love this guy," Wade finished.

Haslem and Wade entered the league as rookies in 2003, and in 13 seasons with the Heat, they won three titles and made five Finals appearances.
