Bucks, Antetokounmpo agree to reported 4-year, $100M extension
The Milwaukee Bucks reached an agreement with Giannis Antetokounmpo on a reported four-year, $100-million extension on Monday.
The contract will be finalized Tuesday afternoon.
The 21-year-old is coming off a career-year with Milwaukee, averaging 16.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.2 steals on 50.6 percent shooting. Antetokounmpo was particularly impressive after being moved to point guard following the All-Star break, averaging 18.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 7.2 assists, while collecting five triple-doubles.
Head coach Jason Kidd hasn't stated whether Antetokounmpo will continue to see time at the point during the upcoming season, as Michael Carter-Williams could return to the starting lineup after missing much of the second half due to the injury.
Milwaukee already had committed $93 million in salaries prior to Antetokounmpo's extension, but could conceivably still make ample cap room next summer should Greg Monroe opt out of his $17.9-million player option.
