Cavaliers to give title rings to Quicken Loans Arena staff
As a thank you to the more than 1,000 employees who worked at Quicken Loans Arena throughout the 2015-16 season, the Cleveland Cavaliers will hook up everyone from the food vendors to the janitors with some championship bling.
Team owner Dan Gilbert will present rings to both employees of the building and the organization, a spokesperson for the Cavaliers confirmed to Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon.
The workers won't receive the same ring as the players, who will have theirs specifically designed for them, but the total cost of their rings is still estimated to be more than $1 million.
It was recently reported that both former head coach David Blatt and current Golden State Warrior Anderson Varejao will also receive rings. Blatt coached the Cavaliers for the first 41 games (30-11) before being replaced by Tyronn Lue, while Varejao suited up for 31 appearances prior to being moved before the trade deadline.
Cleveland overcame a 3-1 series deficit in The Finals against the 73-win Warriors to capture its first title in franchise history and end the city's 52-year championship drought.
