Mavericks' Dwight Powell: Now weighs 245 pounds
Powell said Thursday that he now checks in at 245 pounds, ESPN.com's Tim MacMahon reports.
Analysis:
Powell's weight has vacillated between the 230- and 255-pound range over the last year, but the big man indicated that the middle ground of that range is most ideal for him, as it provides him with enough strength to battle frontcourt players on the boards while also allowing him to maintain his mobility. After re-signing with the Mavericks on a four-year, $37 million contract over the summer, Powell looks in line to serve as the Mavs' top reserve in the frontcourt. He'll see time behind both Dirk Nowitzki and Andrew Bogut at power forward and center, respectively.
