Report: Bucks discussed trading Monroe to Hornets for Lamb, Hawes
The Milwaukee Bucks' guard rotation and playoff aspirations took a huge hit when Khris Middleton injured his left hamstring in an offseason workout and was subsequently ruled out for six months.
The team has been looking to swing a deal for his replacement, and could kill two birds with one stone by shipping off a player it's been shopping for months.
The Bucks have discussed a deal with the Charlotte Hornets that would send Jeremy Lamb and big man Spencer Hawes to Milwaukee in exchange for Greg Monroe, according to Gery Woelfel of Racine Journal Times.
Lamb is a serviceable shooting guard, having put up 8.8 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 31 percent from 3-point territory in 2015-16. He's a third-stringer on the Hornets, who re-signed Nic Batum and added Marco Belinelli.
Meanwhile, Hawes averaged six points and 4.3 boards in 18 minutes off the bench last year.
Overall, this package suggests Monroe's trade value has decreased dramatically since his days in Detroit.
The 6-foot-11 center's name has been floated in trade rumors throughout the offseason, with the club reportedly having tried to move him since February's trade deadline
After inking a three-year, $50-million max contract last summer, Monroe underwhelmed in his first campaign with the Bucks. He averaged 15.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists over 79 contests.
Now head coach Jason Kidd is demoting him to the bench to begin 2016-17 as a backup to Miles Plumlee.
Milwaukee's stance on Monroe is clear, and it appears willing to part with him in order to improve at the two-spot and ideally return to the postseason after missing the cut last year.
