Kerr: Curry knows he won't hit 400 3-pointers this year
Here's one of those sacrifices the Golden State Warriors will have to make.
The addition of high-usage wing Kevin Durant will mean fewer shots for everyone. That means no more record-setting for the likes of Stephen Curry, who beat his own mark for most threes in a season with 402 last year.
"I think Steph probably knows he's not hitting 400 threes this year. He knows," head coach Steve Kerr told reporters Tuesday.
Curry was the Warriors' best shot-creator last season, and the team often leaned on that unparalleled ability to jump-start their offense. It led to him trying 11.2 threes per game. With Durant around, that figure won't need to be nearly as high.
The change for Curry has already set in during preseason, as last year's scoring leader has only tried 14 shots in 40 minutes across two games. He's been decidedly pass-first as the Warriors look to integrate Durant.
