Clippers' Raymond Felton: Thrives in starting opportunity Wednesday
Felton contributed 17 points (4-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 8-8 FT), five rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot across 36 minutes in Wednesday's 104-98 preseason victory over the Raptors.
Analysis:
Felton got the starting call at small forward Wednesday and received the most extensive amount of playing time by far of any Clippers player, as coach Doc Rivers looked to assess whether or not he could thrive at the position as part of an undersized lineup. Suffice to say, Felton turned in a good outing, which could put him in the conversation for a starting role at small forward, which remains an unsettled mess. While Rivers previously indicated that Luc Mbah a Moute, Wesley Johnson and Alan Anderson would contend for that role, Felton would likely be a superior fantasy option if he was granted time at the position. Even if Felton ultimately sees most of his time at the two backcourt spots, he'd still likely rank as one of the team's preferred options off the bench.
