Report: Cavs interested in Mario Chalmers
The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to recruit yet another member of the championship-winning Miami Heat teams.
The Cavaliers have interest in signing free agent Mario Chalmers once the 30-year-old point guard recovers from his Achilles tear, reports ESPN's Marc Stein.
Since LeBron James returned home to Ohio following his stint in South Beach, a slew of former teammates have followed suit. James Jones, Toney Douglas, Mike Miller, and Chris Andersen have flocked north to The King's side in recent seasons.
A reunion with Chalmers, however, would be more than a simple homecoming. Cleveland is woefully thin at backup point guard given the departures of Mo Williams (retirement) and Matthew Dellavedova (free agency) this offseason.
When healthy, Chalmers remains a productive player who can log time at either guard position. In 55 games last season split between Miami and Memphis, Chalmers averaged 10.3 points and 3.8 assists in 22.5 minutes while hitting 41 percent from the field.
Cleveland would only have the veteran's minimum to offer Chalmers.
