Report: LaMarcus Aldridge might not finish season with Spurs

Something may be amiss in San Antonio with regards to its marquee addition of 2015.

LaMarcus Aldridge, just one year into his tenure with the Spurs, might be on the move after not quite panning out as expected. Aldridge might even be moved before the season is over, ESPN's Jackie MacMullan told CSNNE.com.

"For instance, sources were telling me the other day that LaMarcus Aldridge may not even finish the year with the Spurs," MacMullan said. "That experiment hasn't quite worked out the way they hoped."

She also added, "There's some stuff going on" with regard to Aldridge's current situation.

The organization denies that trade talks involving Aldridge have taken place, though, according to the San Antonio Express-News' Jeff McDonald.

Aldridge ended his nine-year stint in Portland to join the Spurs on a four-year, $84-million deal last summer. It was thought that he would be the missing piece to thrust the Spurs back into championship contention.

However, the transition wasn't nearly as smooth as some expected. Aldridge, an isolation player who mostly does damage through holding the ball in the post, struggled to adapt to San Antonio's pass-heavy offense. He found his footing as the year went on, but that wasn't enough to save the Spurs from a second-round exit.

Overall, the five-time All-Star still submitted a fine season with averages of 18 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 51.3 percent from the field in 30.6 minutes per game. But San Antonio might be looking to move in a different direction with respect to Aldridge.

The 31-year-old is owed $65 million over the next three years and has an opt-out in his contract after the 2017-18 season.
