Report: Kings unlikely to reach extension with Ben McLemore
The Sacramento Kings are unlikely to reach a contract extension with fourth-year guard Ben McLemore, sources tell Chris Haynes of ESPN.
McLemore is eligible for a rookie-scale extension by Oct. 31, but there hasn't been much love from either side, especially since McLemore's name has been in trade talks for months.
Sacramento insists its intention to retain McLemore going forward, but the talented swingman will likely come off the bench for veteran-addition Arron Afflalo this season after starting most of the last three years.
Nevertheless, Haynes reports the Kings turned down an offer from Milwaukee last week that would have flipped McLemore for Michael Carter-Williams.
The 23-year-old McLemore holds career averages of 9.7 points on 34.6 percent shooting from deep. His size (6-foot-7) and athleticism (42-inch vertical) gives him the potential to become a strong 3-and-D wing.
